SpaceX Gets Greenlight to Supercharge Starlink With E-Band Spectrum
In a groundbreaking move, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved SpaceX’s plan to utilize the E-band spectrum for its next-generation Starlink satellite internet network. This pivotal decision paves the way for a massive leap in Starlink’s data capacity and internet speeds worldwide.
The E-band, which operates in the 71-86 GHz range, will be employed for backhaul communications between Starlink satellites and ground stations. By tapping into these higher frequencies, SpaceX expects to quadruple the per-satellite data throughput compared to the current constellation.
This breakthrough boosts Starlink’s ability to deliver ultra-fast, low-latency internet to even the most remote corners of the globe. Each next-gen satellite will be capable of handling up to 64 simultaneous data beams to a single location – a game-changing capability.
While granting approval, the FCC mandated SpaceX to carefully coordinate spectrum usage to prevent interference with other operators. Addressing astronomy concerns was also a key consideration.
But the benefits are immense. The E-band upgrade promises to revolutionize global internet accessibility, cementing SpaceX’s position as a pacesetter in the satellite internet realm. As Starlink’s reach expands, it brings us one step closer to the dream of a connected world – and an eventual multi-planetary human civilization.
Website design for User Experience and Google Algorithm
Transcript from Loom:
A lot of people are wondering how they make a website that customers will like, stay on, and use. And number two, they want to know how to get Google to show their website to people. It’s really the same thing. Google will tell you that they show websites that visitors like. You can argue whether you agree with how Google defines that; it doesn’t matter. We’re planning Google sandbox, so we have to do what they say.
So I’m going to run through this website and show you what we do to ensure a good user experience and the Google will show the website to people. Now, I have to tell you, there’s a lot more than just what’s on your website to get listed on Google. But I’m gonna be showing you what’s necessary with your website build in order to be shown by Google.
The first thing you want is this little icon up at the top left. It’s called a FAVACON. And if you’re like me, you have 50 tabs open all the time. And so it’s hard once you navigate away from this tab to get back to it. So if someone goes to check another website before they make a decision on your company, if you don’t have a favicon, they can’t get back to it.
So we put a favicon up there and the name of your company. You then want your logos that people know who you are. You want them to be able to quickly get the information they need. So what you want them to do is call your email you. So we put that up at the top. And then you have seven seconds on this page to track their interest. So you need some good quick text to get them to go further.
So what we’re doing here is elevate your internet with effortless Starlink installations. So if you want better internet or you want Starlink installations, they’re the same thing, keep reading. Contact us, that’s really what you want them to do. If they click this, they’ll take them to the bottom of the page where there is a contact us form and I’ll show you that in a couple of minutes.
So, again, we’ve got seven seconds on this top section, and we have five important pieces. We’ve got the favicon, we’ve got the logo, we’ve got the contact, we have the text to attract interest, and then this is called a call-to-action button, so the call-to-action button, which takes them to the contact us form.
Next, social proof. If you have some good numbers, you want to put them here. This provides legitimacy to your company and gets people to be more likely to contact you. Then you want to tell them immediately what do you do? Our services. We do consumer Starlink, business Starlink, RV Starlink, or marine Starlink. There are many different ways that we can display this. This is just the one display that we have on this website. But it’s necessary and important to quickly show them what you do.
Why choose Awakened Installations? are two things that you’re going to be doing on a Starlink website or two potential. Things that you’ll be doing on a Starlink Installer website. First, if there are competitors in your area, you have to tell them why to choose your particular company, instead of another installer. And you may also want to be talking to them about why to choose Starlink rather than any of the other satellite internet solutions.
Then you want to show pictures of work that you’ve done. You want to prove to them that you can do what you say you’re going to do. And so we have a bunch of pictures of Starlink installations. They click on it. They can see a bigger picture. They can scroll through and see more pictures. So this is right. A picture is worth 1,000 words right here. You show that you can you prove that you can do what you say you’re going to do.
Then testimonials, you want other people, not you, to be saying that you can do what you do as well. And so having testimonials is very important to a person visiting your website. Then FAQ is frequently asked questions. You will be getting the same question over and over and over. What you want is to answer all questions before they even call you.
Because the reality is they’re not going to call you when they have a question. Right? The more confident they are that they have all the information they need and that you can do what you want. The more likely they are already call you. So we put down whatever the frequently asked questions are that you have and your answers.
A big believer putting your pricing on the website. One of the most important things that people want to know is what it costs. If they have to contact you to find out how much it costs that’s going to reduce the number of people who reach out to you, it’s called friction. Anything that stands the way between them, making the buying decision, looking at your website and actually deciding to buy from you, that reduces your number of sales. So get rid of the friction and just tell them how much it costs. You can even say $500, you know, pricey may vary with complexity of install. But that gives them an idea of where it starts.
Then the contact form that I mentioned earlier, as well as over here on the left, and I’m going to hide this because we need to see more, explain to them how the process will work. We think that people know, but they really, really don’t. We’re in it all the time every day. So we know the answer, but they don’t. So step one, they submit the form. Step two, you’re going to call them within 24 hours. Give them a time frame. If you don’t give them a time frame, as soon as they submit this, they’re going to want to, you know, it’s been two minutes Why haven’t they called me? This tells them it’s going to take up to 24 hours, and they won’t worry about the fact that takes a little while for you to reach out to them. Then our technicians contact you to arrange the install and that’s it.
So you want it to be simple, it’s three steps, and then you take care of the last step. This is another called action button, and if you’re on mobile, it will immediately dial the phone for you, or for the visitor. And then again, how to contact you, phone, email, your location. I like to show map. It gives personal touch shows that you’re real individual and that you’re in the area, at least where you are. And then down at the bottom for what we’re doing, not associated with or endorsed by Starlink or SpaceX, copyright, whatever it is.
And the other important factor for Google, as well as reality, more than half of searches these days are on mobile or on your mobile phone. And so this is called an emulator. It kind of lets us look at what it would look like on a phone. And what you can see is we have this hamburger icons that people can get to the sections that they want then we have it all set up, so it still looks good even on mobile.
And as you come down here, I might remove some of the images, because it uses a lot of data on mobile and takes more time. You still need the testimonials, you need the FAQs. You need to tell them how much it costs. Have the contact us form. Again, if this was a phone and you clicked on this button, it would immediately dial the phone. And again, dial the phone because that’s what you want, you want them to dial the phone, you want them to email, you want them to fill out the form, so have that available all the time. And as you can see, it still looks good, even on mobile.
So those are the pieces of a website that you need to make sure to optimize so that visitors have a good user experience, and if they have a good user experience, Google is more I’d like to show your website to the visitors.
